This design came from one of those “a ha” moments when a lack of sleep meets a bunch of adrenaline.
A Toggle, ie. the bar and the ring, are usually brought together to close a necklace or a bracelet. I took that scientifically brilliant concept and changed it from a clasp to a charm holder. One ring and one bar, became one ring and hundreds of bars attached to charms.
Through trial and error-and lots of charms lost down my shirt-I came up with the perfect size bar and ring., one that allowed the charm to move, but did not release it. I took the idea to a manufacturer and he produced toggles specifically for this design. The bar, whether it is sterling, gold or gunmetal, slips vertically through the matching metal ring, and then comes to rest horizontally. Each collection has its own toggle bar and ring made specifically for that line and will only work with others within that line.
Now when people ask me, “How come it doesn’t fall out?” I say, “It’s science, baby”.
